Learning Objectives

Learning Objectives

  1. Through the initial pre-review of at least 300 mammographic studies and 60 breast MRI studies, and following one-on-one discussions with Drs. Cardeñosa and Kraemer, the participant will be able to detect and describe pertinent imaging findings and determine appropriate patient management options.
  2. The participant will be able to establish radiology-pathology concordance of common breast lesions, determine appropriate patient follow-up recommendations and consider the development of weekly radiology-pathology conferences at their institutions.
  3. The participant will be able to consider appropriate policy and procedures for their breast imaging practice, challenge traditional approaches for the role of the radiologist in managing women with breast-related findings and potentially adopt new practice patterns aimed at improving patient care.
  4. The participant will be able to conduct and appreciate the importance of involving themselves in quality control and the medical audit of their mammographic practices as a significant way to improve interpretations and patient outcomes.
  5. The participant will be able to state the indications for ductography and potential findings.
  6. The participant will be able to describe current indications for MRI of the breast and reflect on the controversies surrounding this imaging modality.
  7. The participant will be able to contrast available approaches for imaging-guided breast biopsies.
  8. The participant will reflect on the importance of direct communication with patients, referring physicians, pathologists, surgeons and oncologists and, to the extent possible, become actively involved in interdisciplinary conferences at their institutions.
