Schedule

First Day

Morning: 8 a.m. to noon
Visiting fellows will review 150 pre-hung mammograms. This will include normal mammograms admixed with normal variants, screen-detected cancers and diagnostic mammograms.

Afternoon: 1 to 6 p.m.
Mammograms previewed in the morning will be reviewed at the viewbox with staff. Additional mammographic images, ultrasound and biopsy results will be presented as indicated.

Second Day

Morning: 8 a.m. to noon
Afternoon: 1 to 6 p.m.
MRI studies on those patients with breast cancer reviewed on the first day will be previewed by participants and then discussed with staff.

Third Day

Morning: 8 a.m. to noon
Visiting fellows will review a second set of 150 pre-hung mammograms. This will include normal mammograms admixed with normal variants, screen-detected cancers and diagnostic mammograms.

Afternoon: 1 to 6 p.m.
Mammograms previewed in the morning will be reviewed at the viewbox with staff. Additional mammographic images, ultrasound and biopsy results will be presented as indicated.

Fourth Day

Morning: 8 a.m. to noon
Afternoon: 1 to 5 p.m.
MRI studies on those patients with breast cancer from the third day will be previewed by participants and then discussed. Visiting fellows will attend the radiology-pathology correlation conference.

Fifth Day

Morning: 8 a.m. to noon
Afternoon: 1 to 3 p.m.
Visiting fellows will shadow section staff doing patient evaluations and procedures to experience a typical day with various operational challenges that require decisive, timely decision-making to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
